Celeb{rate} A Year In Review

I'm often asked what of the celebrities that I have designed for were my favourite. I definitely cannot just pick one; each have been amazing opportunities in their own way, be it designing something for their home or something for them to wear, it has been such a unique challenge to design for them all.

If I absolutely had to pick my top three, in an absolute random order, I would have to choose...

Designing a clay brooch for Meryl Streep was amazing. She is simply incredible, most definitely the most influential actress that I will ever have the pleasure of watching in my lifetime. To know that she owns a piece of my work makes me hold my breath for a moment!

Creating a set of sculpted wallflowers for Tina Fey's amazing NYC apartment was incredible! I knew immediately when I got word that my work was approved by her stylist and publicist what I would create and the whole design happened very easily.

Designing for Keira Knightley was one of those moments where you sit in awe. Designing for her stylist, Camilla Pole, was the icing on a very beautiful cupcake. They were so nice and genuine, an absolute pleasure to work with.

This year promises new adventures and new celebs to amaze with my work!

Who was your favourite that I designed for last year?

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Punky Brewster

If you're a child of the 80's, you know exactly who I'm talking about when I mention Punky Brewster. Soleil Moon Frye has turned into positively the most radiant woman, inside and out, and has such a beautiful philosophy when it comes to parenting.

Designing something for her was nothing short of amazing, and immediately I went to the bold pops of colour that she seems to gravitate toward in her accessories.

I think the bold pop of Pantone's 2013 Monaco Blue, paired with Spearmint, is perfect for her!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Without Further Adieu..

Julia Childs...

The Devil who wore Prada...{and will again!}

Ms. Thatcher...

A beauty queen...

Simply the most magnetic actress of our time. Stunning...

I could go on and on and on about Ms. Streep, but all I can say is that having the opportunity to design a custom brooch for her has been the opportunity of a lifetime.

An asbtract approach this time - twisting the white clay into a sinuous line of shape and form. Paired with light blue to pick up on Meryl's eye and a light gold for a spark of shimmer...

More abstract brooches will be in the shop this fall, all modeled off of this one of a kind stunner made just for Ms. Streep!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: A Beautiful Mama

When I got word that I would be designing a custom piece for Ms. Vanessa Lachey, I knew that it had to be something truly stand out and unique.

An oversized black and gold shimmer bow, on an antique ring base.

Stunning!!! Oh my gosh...it wa so fun to create this for Vanessa and I think it suits her girly style perfectly.

What do you think?

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Big Bang

Have you watched one of the most hilarious shows on television?

The Big Bang Theory has swept the nation with its wit, complex characters and has gotten us all in tune with our inner geek.

An opportunity to create a custom, one of a kind miniature painting for one of the shows stars? Amazing!

This mini triptych was painted in white, violet and green. The colours play together so nicely on the little canvases....they actually fit in the palm of your hand!

I really hope that Mayim enjoys them...and who knows, maybe you'll even see them on screen!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Queen of Queens

We all loved her as Doug Heffernan's wife on the King of Queens...the sassy mama from the Bronx.

In real life, Leah Remini has a super chic and classy style - one that I completely adore and am excited to have designed for!

A sculpted pansy, that is then handpainted with acrylics and hung on a silver metal bangle bracelet with a silver eye pin.

So beautiful, and simple! I think it will match her style rather beautifully!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Ms. BossyFunnypants

She's oh so funny, has an amazingly beautiful spirit and is quite the pretty lady, if I do say so myself. To have had the opportunity to create some amazing wall sculpture for her was incredible, to say the least!

Probably the funniest gal of our time, Tina Fey was an absolute delight to create for. I scultped 3 anemones for a wall installation for her...

One large white anemone with a double pebble collar. One medium white with a double pebble collar, and one small black with a single pebble collar.

I absolutely love them, and am confident that they suit her classic style and impeccable taste!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Love, Actually...is all around

One of my all time favourite movies, without an ounce of doubt, is Love, Actually. The story lines...the heartwarming tales...Colin Firth trying to speak Portugese for Aurelia...*sigh*

My absolute favourite part in the movie is when Mark is at Julia's door with the signs, explaining how, with everything that he is an everything he will be...he loves her. His best friend's girl...

So, naturally, when I had the chance to reach out to Keira Knightley's stylist and public relations rep, I did just that. I am simply overjoyed to have created a custom brooch for Keira!

I sculpted a black anemone, with a slight gold sparkle; something that she can wear as a brooch or clip to her favourite handbag to make it pop!

And for her amazing stylist, Camilla? The shimmery black gold rosette ring! Its absolutely stunning and makes such a statement!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Bitten

I literally squealed when I got the email about sending something from my studio to this amazing woman who is set to have a Blockbuster of a summer...leading into a move that I am dying to see in the fall {as I'm sure many of you Twi-hards are!}

I'm just over-the-moon to have created this ribbed pebble design for Ashley Greene. It's so simple and yet so perfect for her {I think}.

And what's pretty awesome is that I can recreate this exclusive design over and over again right in my studio. Picture it in copper, white, navy or even lilac. Choose a colour that suits your personality...maybe the Pantone colour for 2012, tangerine!

I'm not sure what to call this design; that's where you come in. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think Ashley's exclusive design should be called!

Bitten?

Vamp?

Ribbed?

Magic?

Bas (as in bas relief)?

Let me know!! Name Ashley's design!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: THE Stylist

When I heard about the chance to get a statement ring to this incredible woman, I literally sculpted over twenty designs.

Twenty

Why?

Because she's not only a fashion icon herself, but she's a stylist. THE Stylist....

Rachel Zoe...stylist to the stars and an absolute style icon. Oversized bangles and cuffs? Check! Statement rings? Check! Oversized sunglasses? Check!

I just knew that I needed to design something incredible for her, I just didn't know what (hence the twenty different designs).

Then, when I was out for a girlfriends birthday it hit me: a Dahlia. Layers and layers of beautiful sculpted petals on an antique brass ring. Simple and stunning, white and perfect.

I see Rachel wearing it with a white t-shirt, long fringe-y scarf and a pair of skinny jeans, with really amazing boots. I picture her loving it, and so incredibly hope that she does.

What do you think of it??

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: The Graceful Ballerina

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

A few months ago, I started following Tenley Molzahn on Twitter and Facebook. I had admired her spirit way back when she was on The Bachelor, and was thrilled when she and Kiptyn declared their love for one another {and are happily still going strong}

She just exudes happiness and joy. She's stunning, to say the least, an i am so happy to have created a one of a kind oversized statement ring for her.

A beautiful white pansy with a plum coloured stamen and dark green tendrils. I sketched it out and just knew that it needed to find a home in Tenley's collection.

The creativity flowed into a beautiful reporter style journal with a beachy feel, and an antique skeleton key.

Hopefully she likes them!

What do you think?

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: The New Girl

Another Tuesday, another lovely lady to announce to you all!

She's super quirky, and I just adore that about her. She just gets creativity.

A double rosette sculpted headband, in pearl and bright yellow. From what I can tell, she's a girl who appreciates a hair accessory or two, especially when they contrast with her lovely dark hair.

I thought the yellow would also be a great contrast to her beautiful blue eyes, and the pearl would be a great neutral for her amazingly colourful wardrobe.

From one brunette to another, I think she'll fall in love with this headband and cannot wait to hear what she thinks!

Talk-To-Me Tuesday: Celeb{rate}

I've had the amazing opportunity to connect with some incredible people lately...people in high places.

Well...in shiny, sparkly places...and people who appreciate handmade.

Over the next few weeks, I invite you to Celeb{rate} with me on Tuesday's! I'll show you who I'm sending some work to, and the amazing pieces that they'll receive....you can shout it from the rooftops with me...jump on a table and dance...fist-pump...the whole thing!

In March, I had the opportunity to create two gorgeous pieces for one gorgeous women that I really admire and find incredibly inspiring.

First and foremost, isn't she gorgeous?

I am so proud to say that I have painted Lauren a journal, with an antique skeleton key embellishment. The journal itself was inspired by ballet, and her clothing collection. All very flowy, fluid lines and with lots of ribbon detail. Absolutely love it!

Then, I sculpted her a double pansy hair clip on a vintage alligator clip. It's a little heavy, so will have to be worn pointing downwards so it stays put. I just love the white and plum together. So pretty, especially with her California blonde and tan!

Stay tuned on Tuesdays as I reveal more gifts to Celeb{rate}!

MOMPreneur Monday: Julie Cole of Mabel's Labels

Last night, I was on twitter and sent out a "Help!! I need a MOMpreneur to blog about tomorrow!" Boy...I did not expect to get connected with one of the most amazing MOMpreneur`s out there, Julie Cole, VP and Co-founder of Mabel's Labels.

If you have children, and they watch Disney Junior, you are very familiar with Mabel's Labels already. I was so excited to blog about Julie last night, that I said to my husband "You know...Mabel's Labels...ba-na-na-na-na-na-na hey! We go bananas for birthdays!" and he knew exactly what I was talking about (bless his heart).

Here's a little about Julie and how the ever awesome Mabel's Labels started...

Eight years ago, I started Mabel’s Labels Inc. with 3 friends – and what an adventure it has been! We often refer to Mabel’s Labels as our “other” baby, and it has been amazing to nurture her and help her grow. We find inspiration in so many ways – through our Mabelhood community, our beautiful children and our entrepreneurial spirits.

Y3W Friday: Jeff and Annie

As you may have noticed, I've been a little MIA this week and for some very good reasons.

1) my husband has been travelling for business, so I've been incredibly on the go with our 15month old
2) it was my birthday on Wednesday
3) it is my best-friend's wedding tomorrow...and I'm making her cake {sneaking in a quick blog post before getting started on fondant work today!}

What has made this week exceptionally great was getting these three photo's from the GBK Productions Primetime Emmy Gifting Suite...on my birthday

Jeff Probst...my heart seriously stopped for a second (maybe millisecond) when I saw this. Amazing!

Annie Ilonzeh...one of Charlie's newest Angel's! Simply gorgeous!

"She's a big fan? Of course! I'd LOVE to pose with her stationery!" -- Jeff Probst

Now, the stationary that they were holding...that their wonderful hands actually touched (can you even imagine? I made something that Jeff and Annie held in their own two hands!) was taken home by one of the lovely gals from GBK Productions...but...

It can be reproduced, and even made custom...just for you!

The Big Stack featured 60 pages of hand cut patterned, solid and textured acid free papers, all stamped with acid free ink in the lower right hand corner. It was then bound with chocolate brown recycled twine.
