Spring #fashion Trends #ootd

Expect to see lots of soft feminine florals and cuts this spring!

Spring Fashion 2014

Green dress
$105 - bardot.com.au

GUESS by Marciano beige pumps

River Island bracelet
$16 - riverisland.com

I love this combination! The dress is a nod to the cuts of the 50's, but has great detailing with the white nipped collar, and the pattern of the palm leaves. It is feminine and soft, yet unexpected which makes it pretty perfect.

Since the pattern of the fabric is so strong, pair a dress like this with simple nude pumps and a gold bracelet. I chose a bracelet from River Island that has an intricate almost branch like design to compliment the leaves on the dress. At $16, it's a steal!

For the bag, I'm going next to green on the color wheel and opted for a dark plum Michael Kors bag. It also features some gold detailing to compliment the cuff bracelet and nude pumps.

This outfit, in my opinion, would be lovely for a brunch out with your girlfriends, or even a baby shower! Still a little chilly where you are? Add a simple white cardigan, and you're good to go!

Styling the CEO

A couple of months ago, I blogged for MomBiz.com and wrote about how our closets can be a really big roadblock.

Yes, our closets.

Oh so often we fall into one of the following traps

I'll fit back into that once I do some hard work
What if I have another baby? Those maternity clothes will come in handy!
I'm sure that {insert fashion trend here} will come back into style
It really doesn't look that bad if I wear {insert accessory here} with it

And one thing that we so often forget is to dress for the job that we want. The one that we aspire to be, the walk that we want to walk.

We talk a big game. We live inspired lives and we inspire those around us. But does the outside match who we have built on the inside, and the businesses that we have built?

I encourage you to take a look through your closet and dresser, and purge! Build up that "to donate" pile, and feel good about donating your gently used items to those who need a fresh start.

Keep some basic staple items like a pair of dark washed skinny jeans, a black pencil skirt, a long tunic sweater and a couple of cocktail dresses.

Then....go shopping! Find some basics {white and grey tees and tanks, coral and mint for summer, oxblood and charcoal for fall} that you can pair all of the items that you kept, and change up the looks by getting some trendy accessories like these

When you have the basics, you can throw in the trends in your accessories and show the world that you are up to date with your style, and that you take yourself seriously as a business owner to stay on trend.

Warming Winter Fashion...again with the buttons!

I warned you last time that I am a wee bit obsessed with buttons this season...so it should be no surprise that I am in love with this outfit, by Stella McCartney.

Everything from the four buttons down the back to the contrasting grey tones...and the amazing black pumps...in every way this outfit is simply perfect!

Be it going from office to cocktails with coworkers, or office to office-party {dressing it up with a cuff bracelet and sparkly clutch instead of the black one...maybe with a pop of cobalt blue or holiday red}...it's just perfect and super flattering for almost every body type.

Pants are one thing that aren't worn nearly enough for gatherings, but with the right top and details {ahem, buttons} it can be truly chic!

WAHM Wednesday: Fresh Face Forward

A couple of week ago I started dreaming about BlogHer and the fantastic nights out with my roommates Shan, Shaun and Mel...

Who am I kidding? I've been dreaming about this for months! What I really started thinking about, since I'm working with an amazing fashion designer on some really great clothes to wear at BlogHer was my face.

Sounds silly right?

Well, I started thinking about the fact that I never ever wear makeup (what busy WAHM does?!) and rarely even get out of my jeans a tshirt.

All of that is going to change but the change has to come from within...

Within my makeup bag that is!

Serious slim pickins' in there...

Definitely am not afraid of colour, love to shimmer and shine...but I never wear the stuff. The Lancome compacts of four and single purple and green are about...oh...6 years old. The bronze at the bottom? About 4 years old.

Mascara (which I only started wearing 4 years ago...) was new...Christmas 2010. And the black Rimmel eyeshadow...you don't even want to know. I got it from my roommates collection in university, and I lived with her in 2004...

I definitely need some new tricks in my bag, and need to figure out how to put my best face forward at BlogHer to ensure that I'm representing myself and my amazing sponsors to the best of my ability.

I mean...I dont even have blush or bronzer! Who does that?! {this girl...this girl right here}

What are your favourite products, brands and tricks to keep in your makeup bag? Any trends that I'm missing out on by being makeup free on a daily basis?

Special Post: Stella McCartney and Matches Fashion

As spring starts to poke its lovely face through the barely snow covered grounds, I find myself in need of a wardrobe change. Each season, I try to get a few key pieces that I know I can wear with jeans as well as dress pants, pencil skirts and things of the sort of get the most out of some really inspired, quality designs.

Today, I am finding that in the Stella McCartney collection at Matches Fashion. The bold pops of yellow and blue are paired perfectly with white, grey and black – just absolutely stunning and perfect for spring!

A few favourites that I would like to point your ever keen eye to…

I was immediately drawn to the Michelle jacket. The amazing pop of yellow was just stunning to see, and I could definitely see it paired with a simple white tee, grey skinny jeans and a pair of grey or nude pumps. Perfect for a luncheon out with the girls, or for an after business event. So unexpected, and yet so perfect!

The Stella McCartney collection at Matches Fashion isn’t all about punches of colour on clothing. Don’t underestimate the impact that an accessory can have in your wardrobe! Sometimes, all you need is the perfect handbag or pair of shoes to update for the season ahead!

I personally am in love with the Falabella bucket bag. First and foremost, it is orange and considering that I already have a lot of dark denim and cream tops, it would go perfectly with a lot of what I already have. I look at it as a wise investment for a piece that I will love for many years to come. It’s simply stunning, and roomy too! It would be perfect for a day shopping, as a travel carryon...really, it is perfect for everyday!

Within the Stella McCartney collection, you’ll find whimsical pieces that catch your eye more than once. I’ve looked at the same pieces (for example, the Gwen dress) over and over, and see a captivating new beauty every time I look at it.

The collection is simply breathtaking!
