Summer to Fall #Fashion Transition #trends

Take one dress and one bag, then transition it from the warm summer months to the cooler, crisp autumn evenings...what do you get?

Summer to Fall Fashion 2014

Metallics and pastels have been really hot through Spring and Summer 2014, and there's no reason that they can't be appropriate for Autumn...it's all in how to do them, and what you pair them with.

For Fall, pair a pretty champagne dress with floral blocking with a dark denim jacket, suede booties and nude tights. Pretty easy, but definitely gorgeous. Instead of sparkly bangles and pretty rose gold pearl drop earrings, pull your hair up into a messy top knot or side bun, and let the textures of your clothing and the details on your booties do the talking.

Happy Fall!

It's Fall, Ya'll! #party #trends

Fall is {in my opinion} the most wonderful time of the year. Boots, jeans, lots of layers. Apple cider, maple donuts, and stew. All things yummy, cozy and warm.

This fall, I want to throw an It's Fall, Ya'll party, so I've been curating some of my favorite ideas on Pinterest.

Not to be confused with a Halloween party, a Fall party is more about the flavors and scents than dressing up and being spooky.

Think apples hallowed out for candle holders. Pumpkin flavored craft beer. Garlands of pine cones. Kettle corn. Caramel apples.

And pie...we must have pie!

To keep it cozy, I am planning for an afternoon to evening outdoor event, complete with campfire and s'mores, and lots of blankets for snuggling!

Trendy Nail Lacquer for Fall #beauty #nails

Ever since doing the #CSMTKO in the Spring, I've been playing with different nail polish colors and accents. Dark with light, sparkles and glitter, accent nails.

There's just something so polished about having your nails done!

Fall Nail Colors

Going into fall, it's time to grab some rich hues like burgundy, dark teal, and navy. Charcoal with some sparkle, and champagne as well!

Rich and warm, these polishes will certainly help with the Summer to Fall transition.

My favorite from the polishes selected above is the dark teal. It is so deep and rich, and is perfect for a casual outfit, or dressed up with a fancy dress. A great color for a manicure, it also makes a great polish for an end of summer pedicure.

I would pair it with the champagne from Butter if I was using the teal in a pedicure, and with the black sparkly Essie if I was using the teal in a manicure.

Which is your favorite fall polish color?

Preschool Fall Craft Ideas for Toddlers and Children

A great big thank you to Melissa from Never a Dull Moment for guest blogging today and coming up with some easy and stress free preschooler fall craft ideas that you can do with your children at home!

I love fall, it is honestly my favorite season and who can resist the beautiful changing leaves? Lexie is loving the change of the seasons too; and now with the growing curiosity that comes with being a 3 year old I never know what is coming in the house.

why not use the pine cones as a pretty center piece? Her current favorite is pine cones and apples, which made picking a few fall crafts to start off the season with quite easy. We washed some dirt off a few of the apples, I cut them in half, and we did apple stamps. I'll be honest, for as much as she loves to paint I expected this to be a much bigger hit then it was!

I love the hand print, foot print, (and ever finger printing) paintings; and Lexie's so used to them she knows when we do one we have to do one for each set of Grandparents. Though I must say the attention span of Lexie did not last this activity.

I looked at some interesting leaf painting ideas and thought why not let her just paint on the leafs? She thought this was awesome! But as dead leaves do they died, and didn't last long. PicMonkey Collage

There are a few more we will definitely be making, such as the handshaped wreath and the leaf candle holder! Looking for more toddler friendly fall crafts?

Fall Family Photoshoot Fashion 2013

We have been planning a fall family photoshoot with Hanlon Lain Photography for some time now, and admittedly I have been agonizing over the outfits. It seems like it should be easy, but it's really really not!

I had Owen's outfit picked out the moment I saw it. Charcoal grey pants, his every day blue canvas slip ons, and the sweetest red/mint/yellow plaid short sleeved shirt at Target.

But then the big question was...what do there parents wear??

When in doubt, ask your photographer! She suggested jeans and boots, and because I don't tend to wear normal denim anymore...here's what I've chosen

Dad Style...my husband is big on layering so I thought that I would pick up the yellow tone from Owen's shirt and layer that under a charcoal grey sweater that he already has. Then, he can pair it with brown, slightly distressed dress shoes, and the new watch that I got him for our anniversary.

Mom Style...my red skinnies paired with a sheer black short sleeved chiffon blouse that I recently found by Joe Fresh (not the exact one in the photo but you get the idea), a yellow scarf (optional...we'll see!), my black wedge mid calf boots and the new necklace that Amber Bryce is creating me.

I can't wait to share the photos with you! We haven't had any family portraits done since Owen turned 1, so it definitely is about time and I'm excited to see how they turn out!
