WAHM Wednesday: Coffee Break

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of going to a local William Coffee Shop {I highly recommend their cinnamon scones for breakfast...so sinfully delightful!} and meeting up with some local tweeps.

@RNashPhoto
@ListedPhotog
@downshiftingPOS

and the ever inspirational @TimeOutMom

Things have been a crazy whirlwind over here lately, between us selling our home much faster than we anticipated to looking for our new house to considering building...all with two toddlers. Our son is 1 {and a half} and Sweet Stella's just turned one. Both have so much promise and amazing things going for them, and I have so many visions of hope for them both.

Though, I've been feeling...tired...exhausted...overwhelmed...defeated. Am I doing enough for both of my babies...being a good mom and a great mompreneur? So many questions...

Then, I went to this coffee date and had my socks knocked off. Rebecca, Melissa, Heidi and Margarita were fantastic to meet up with, and filled my sails with so much positivity. They talked about their busy lives as moms, photographers, entrepreneurs, organizers, social media strategists...women.

It was so very empowering, and have me a great deal of focus.

So starts a new series for Wednesday blogposts...about me being a WAHM. How I do it, what inspires me, what keeps me going...and how I keep it real, bring focus to myself and stay level with a busy toddler.

If you're a WAHM (working-at-home-mama) I encourage you to reach out into your community and connect. You never know where likeminded women are hiding. They might be people that you connect with daily on Twitter, or people that stumble across your business page on Facebook. Make it a habit to meet with them, be it one-on-one or in a group setting, and really get down to the nitty gritty. Who are you as a WAHM? What makes you who you are?

Ladies, thank you so very much for our Coffee Break. I look forward to many more!

Sponsorship ShoutOut: Baby Shmizz

You may have noticed a little tab at the top called Sponsorship. I’m currently selling ad space (at a variety of different level and with different perks, including but not limited to ad buttons, exclusive products made with your Brand, and BlogHer’12 exposure) and have had some really awesome brands and bloggers jump on board!

My first fantastic sponsor is Shannon, from Baby Shmizz. Shannon (aside from having the best name on the history of the planet) is an awesome blogger who is building her readership and expanding her horizons.

Over on Baby Shmizz, you’ll see not only adorable photos and videos of her little man, Jack, but you’ll also be introduced to a world of awesome books, product reviews and giveaways for Mom, baby gear reviews and crazy giveaways for the kiddo, favourite lists and an overall witty charm. Afterall, it’s her wit and charm that drew me to her in the first place (as well as going through pregnancy at the same time, and being able to relate to one another throughout our journey to become Mama’s)

Coming soon to Baby Shmizz are Gunapod Sleep Sack and a custom handmade cupcake stand giveaways in October! She’ll also have a freebie link for a kid-focused computer app in mid-October!

Together, we’ll be kicking off She Works Hard For The Money – a Thursday Blog Hop for Working Mamas, WAHM’s and SAHM’s who coupon, save, and are otherwise awesome with money management. Stay tuned for more details…including our first hop on October 6th, complete with cute button!

What’s next for Shannon and Baby Shmizz? Well, BlogHer’12 is definitely on the horizon (we’re going to be roomies and I’m thrilled!), as well as blog sponsorship, reviews, more giveaways for her readership, growing her Facebook fan page, and her Twitter followers…just to name a few things.

Go check her out! If the photos of Jack aren’t reason enough to stick around her blog for a few minutes, then call me crazy!

Civic Holiday: Mama Blogger Monday...Very Bloggy

Good morning and happy Civic Holiday Monday to you all!

Blogging has been lacking around these parts lately, and while I am dealing with some very difficult personal challenges (two deaths...one of my best friend's Grandfather, a truly spectacular dude in every sense of the word, and another of a very dear friend who died suddenly yesterday) I will try my best to post on a more regular schedule this week.

Today, I'd like to take a moment to introduce you to Beth from Very Bloggy. I first met Beth when Socialmoms.com was promoting some of my treat flags, and I immediately started following her and her journey on Twitter.

She's witty, and cool, and happens to be a pizza-holic. A self proclaimed amateur wino (who isn't a wino! Wine is possibly the best thing on earth!), hippie...and fellow Etsian. Here's why she blogs and what keeps her fingers typing...

I started Very Bloggy not really knowing what my focus or subject matter would be. Then, I had my son. When I became a mother, it was obvious to me that my blog had to be about parenthood. I had so many questions, and wanted to connect with other parents, and life was full of those funny little rookie parent moments. For the past 3 years, I have blogged about the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to my experience as a SAHM in San Francisco. I write a lot about parenting, food, urban life and green living, but really no topic is off-limits. The blog also served as a surprisingly amazing support system during my recent miscarriage--I was so glad I had my community of readers and fellow bloggers to get me through. It made me realize what a great group of people I had found, and I'm more motivated than ever to keep blogging and networking.

I hope you love following Beth as much as I do!

Thankful Thursday: Kristal and Denise

Last night, The Artisan Group held its very first Twitter Party. It was a HUGE success and the conversation lasted a full half an hour after the party wrap up time! #artisangroup was even a trending topic only minutes into the party!

Big congratulations to the winners from the party last night, which will be formally announced on the brand shiny new Artisan Group blog!

Winners are:

Q1 Tiffany Ard - ArtbyAfton – 8x10 print
Q2 Barbie Spruill - Little Free Radical – Giftcard to Etsy shop $15

Today, I wanted to send out a very special thank you to my co-hosts last night, Kristal from Atutudes and Denise from AJSweetSoaps.

Last night during the party, what you didn't see was me frantically trying to post and reply to everyone's questions while Kristal collected all of the correct trivia answers and Denise interacted with participants and kept the conversation going.

What you didn't see was the moment at Question6 when TweetDeck told me that I was over my status update limit and had been placed in Twitter jail, essentially. You didn't see the direct messages frantically sent to Denise and Kristal for their support, but you did see them come to the rescue to keep the party going!

What you didn't see was the excitement being shared between the members of The Artisan Group with all of your involvement, and that we can't wait to do it all over again once this years Nominees are announced! Stay Tuned!

Thankful Thursday: Twitter

I was himming and hawing last night while trying to get comfortable in bed and trying fruitlessly to fall asleep about what I would post today for Thankful Thursday.

It just dawned on my right now...3:14pm EST...that I am very thankful for Twitter.

Without Twitter, and following people like Kristal from @atutudes, I wouldn't have known or linked with with The Artisan Group.

Without Twitter, I wouldn't have been asked by Metro News to send them a press release, and that article would never have happened.

Without Twitter, I wouldn't be able to chat with the mom's that I love so much and who have been such a huge support of my role as a mom and MOMpreneur, on a daily basis.

Without Twitter, I woudln't be able to reach out and connect with hundreds if not thousands of people, participate in TweetUp's, host a Tweetup for The Artisan Group, or link up with charities that are looking for product donations.

So, thank you Twitter! Social media is amazing...don't fight it! Hop on into the conversations!

Y3W Friday: Really..It's Friday?

Hello friends!

I was so confused yesterday when I was looking on Twitter, and say @MomItForward had posted asking what tweeps were thankful for that day.

Thursday? Really?

I could have sworn that I had only missed one day of blogging, but apparently not!

So, really? It's Friday?

Who knew!

Apparently, this is what happens when you're up late at night editing images and posting items to Etsy, tweeting about said items and linking them to facebook to try for maximum exposure!

Stay tuned for next week...a new MOMpreneur, some yummy baking, a new product and (with any luck) a few new hearts on Etsy!

Thank you all for your continued support of Sweet Stella's!
