Fall Flower Arrangements from Pinterest #flowers #autumn

While scouring the pages of Pinterest for fall flower arrangements, I was determined to find something that didn't incorporate pumpkins. Not that pumpkins aren't lovely this time of year, but they.are.everywhere.

Then I found this pin, by gardentherapy.ca, and thought it was so lovely...for a variety of reasons.

A simple jar from your fridge (empty of course) wrapped with birch bark and twine, then filled with white and light orange flowers. Really, you could fill it with any color of flowers for it to be appropriate for fall, as it gets its main design elements from the birch bark and twine.

The details from the birch bark and twine are beautiful. Rustic, yet clean and simple.

Look in your kitchen cupboards for vessels that are different and unique. We have some beautiful milk glass pieces that I love to fill with flowers, as well as mason jars and traditional clear vases. Then take fresh snips from your garden, or visit a local farmers market for in seasons flowers.

To see more beautiful fall flower arrangements, visit the gallery on Home Trends Magazine. They have curated some of the most gorgeous arrangements, in vessels like vintage silver footed basins and milkglass pieces.

Choosing Flower Arrangements for your Dining Room, #homedecor

I'm usually not one to spend a whole lot of time on things like centrepieces. Hurricane vase, coffee beans and a candle. Easy peasy.

But when it came to redesigning our formal dining room, I wanted to have one centrepiece that would be classic and chic, and would transition well no matter the season or event that we are hosting.

I love the look of fresh flowers, but to get new ones every single week...well...it's just not realistic with a toddler running around and another one on the way. I knew that it was time to order some gorgeous paper flowers from 2Clvr 4 U Designs.

One of my favorite bouquets that Laura has created is the Great Gatsby. I love the metallic finishes on the papers, paired with simple whites. I also really love the Pink Peony bouquet

So...I'm thinking a shallow brushed metal bowl, filled with white peonies and roses. Simple, but full of texture and dimension.

Now to find the perfect bowl!

Fabulous Finds Friday: Daylillies

One low maintenance plant that I absolutely adore is the daylilly.

I love ones that have an exciting burst of colour, are reliable and plentiful every year, and that keep to themselves wherever they are planted.

I think for our front garden, some yellows and purples will need to make an appearance.

These ones are simple and sweet...

While these ones have a bold impact!

Planted together, in between neatly trimmed boxwoods...a lovely walk up to the front door!

Happy weekend! Plant something pretty!

Fabulous Finds Friday: Pom Pom Dahlia's

While I'm not even sure that I can grow Dahlia's in our region {speaking of regions...anyone know what region London, Ontario is in??}, I really admire these for their unique shape, ribbon-like texture, and massive pop of colour!

Aren't they incredible?

For the front of our house, it's like a wall of grey. Our house is a light grey stucco, our door is a dark grey. Our grass, obviously is green, and the driveway is an interlocking concrete brick.

Lots and lots of grey.

How amazing would these pom pom dahlia's be for a pop of colour?

Simple Things Thursday: First Bloom

I saw the most simple and amazing thing today when I rounded the back of the car after getting my on buckled up and ready to run errands...

My Japanese Anemone has bloomed and it looks fantastic!

Don't forget to link up with Simple As That...she was just on a fabulous vacation with her beautiful family, but the bloghop should be back soon!

Simple Things Thursday: Rose of Sharon

Today is a post that I write with a heavy heart. I took this picture a couple of week ago, when our Rose of Sharon was just starting to bloom and hadn't yet been plagued with Japanese Beetles.

Two weeks ago, they were just flowers..lovely purple, bright wonderful flowers with a simple beauty.

Now, when I look at them, I think of my friend Christine who passed away suddenly on Sunday. She loved the colour purple...

My heart is heavy, even when looking at the simplest inspiration.
