Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Dream Celebs

So my celeb styles have wrapped up for the year, and I'm left dreaming of who I would really love to design and create for.

My pick of celebrities to design for might be a little unconventional, but there is a method to my madness {I swear}

So, quite the eclectic mix, eh? Well I have reasons for each selection.

Emma Watson - she is positively adorable, on the rise, and carries herself with a great deal of grace. I would love to design some girly accessories for her

Jesse Tyler Ferguson - one of the funniest guys on primetime TV, I think he is absolutely fantastic. I would love to design a piece of sculpture for his home.

Jennifer Lawrence - oh so clearly launching into the stratosphere of stardom. Firey, alive, passionate. I would love to get a painting into her hands!

Sarah Jessica Parker - *sigh* accessories for her girls....art for her home...I would seriously somersault at the chance!

Daniel Craig - aside from being the most handsome of handsome, I think that he and his stunning wife Rachel Weisz would appreciate art, modern lines and contemporary home decor.

Anne Hathaway - a dreamer in and of herself, I would love to create a custom journal for her.

If you could design for any celebrity, who would it be? Leave me a comment!

Bringing Boho-Chic to Sweet Stella's with custom designs for Sheryl Crow

This month I am excited to reveal my final celebrity commission for 2013, Sheryl Crow.

Ms. Crow is someone that I have admired for a long time. She has a huge philanthropic heart and is an amazing example of a balanced mom. Designing for her sort of feels like coming full circle.

Sheryl will be receiving one of my one of a kind painted stone bangles.

Why grey and purple? Well, the tones are neutral enough to match her boho chic style, but have a great contrast that people will take notice of.

What do you think? Do you think it is a good fit for her?

A journal for Carey Mulligan

I am so excited to reveal the journal that I have created for Carey Mulligan. It is perfect for daydreaming and doodling....sketching and writing plans.

I love the deep rich tones of the purple and green. The splash of lime going through the top third of the cover is also pretty great, and there is such amazing texture!! I just love it!

And what about the flower? I think it is perfect for her!

What do you think?

Celeb{rate} design reveal for Christina Applegate

I just knew that I wanted to do light, pastel and neutral tones for Christina Applegate. I knew that it had to have some fluid lines and movement to it.

This is a design that I have loved for a long time. The tendril on the top just floats there, giving such movement and dimension to the overall design. The soft blue and pearl tones are perfectly marbled. I thin it plays off her personality, and is both whimsical and feminine all at the same time.

I hope it's a piece that she wears on a date night out or for brunch with her girlfriends!

Celeb{rate} A Year In Review

I'm often asked what of the celebrities that I have designed for were my favourite. I definitely cannot just pick one; each have been amazing opportunities in their own way, be it designing something for their home or something for them to wear, it has been such a unique challenge to design for them all.

If I absolutely had to pick my top three, in an absolute random order, I would have to choose...

Designing a clay brooch for Meryl Streep was amazing. She is simply incredible, most definitely the most influential actress that I will ever have the pleasure of watching in my lifetime. To know that she owns a piece of my work makes me hold my breath for a moment!

Creating a set of sculpted wallflowers for Tina Fey's amazing NYC apartment was incredible! I knew immediately when I got word that my work was approved by her stylist and publicist what I would create and the whole design happened very easily.

Designing for Keira Knightley was one of those moments where you sit in awe. Designing for her stylist, Camilla Pole, was the icing on a very beautiful cupcake. They were so nice and genuine, an absolute pleasure to work with.

This year promises new adventures and new celebs to amaze with my work!

Who was your favourite that I designed for last year?

Celeb{rate} design reveal for Kristen Stewart

I cannot believe how difficult it was to design for the vampire heroine that we all know and love. She is broody and dark and stormy...what in the world could I design for her that would be on trend but still neutral enough for her to wear daily?

Then it hit me. Black and white tribal prints are a huge trend going into spring.

A single black and white bubble charm on a silver bangle bracelet!

Here's hoping she loves it!

Celeb{rate} Christina Applegate

Spring celebrity style is full of beautiful pastel colors, metallic accents and floral patterns. In my opinion, stylists have encapsulated everything that is spring and brought it into wardrobe, and I love it!

So...what do you do when those are the trends and you're designing for Christina Applegate?

Well, you kind of freak out a little bit and after you've composed yourself, you start sketching. I keep gravitating toward the pastel tones for her, maybe with a hint of pearl or silver.

Mint and pearl
Peach and silver
Light blue and pearl

I'm not certain what will be created, but I have a feeling that it will be beautiful and feminine just like Christina herself!

Celeb{rate} The Sultry Vampire

One of the most talked about celebrities right now is none other than Kristen Stewart, so when I got notification from her publicist that I was going to be designing a custom piece for her, I was over the moon with excitement.

I am still in the designing phases, but I love that she lets her darker side show. It definitely is setting the tone with my sketches, and the possibilities are really endless.

Sculpted bowls in black, charcoal and navy
A sculpted crown of black glitter hearts
A monochromatic painting

I know that the piece, be it home decor or wearable, will be monochromatic....but which way should I go?

Home decor or a piece she can wear?

What trends in celebrity style do you like?

Celeb{rate} Styling Scarlett

For a few weeks now, I've been at the design table trying to design the perfect, yet simple, accessory for Scarlett Johnansson.

I think I have finally hit the nail on the head, and designed something perfect for her.

I was inspired by the gorgeous and rich gold tones in Scarlett's hair. Marbled together with white clay, then set on an antique bras ring base, this almost conical shaped stone ring is just awesome. It combines fluid lines with the marbling, yet strong lines with the overall solid construction.

I really hope that it becomes a staple in her every day wardrobe! It's a versatile piece that certainly could be dressed down with a pair of jeans and a white tee, or dressed up with a black pencil skirt and plum peplum top, and really great heels.

What do you think of the design? Comment below

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Research

Last month, I gave you a little insight as to what exactly goes into designing items for celebrities. This mnoth, I want to talk just about the research aspect.

Does he or she like silver...or gold...or rose gold?
Do they wear funky accessories, or are they more classic in their tastes?
Are they homebodies who appreciate art?

While yes, I trot off to google images to see what their current tastes are, I also look up articles about them, look at their profiles, websites, twitter and facebook pages.

Take Tina Fey, for example.

I designed Tina a set of wallflowers, two white and one black, so she could put them up in her office, home, dressing room...wherever.

Through my research, I saw that she has a beautiful new apartment on the Upper West Side of NYC. It's bright and airy, and just stunning. These wallflowers would be the perfect compliment to her home decor, without taking away from how open and spacious the dwelling is.

They're refined and feminine, classic and clean. They show well in any home, and are perfectly created just for her.

Celeb{rate}...designing for Ms. Johannson

I am so excited! I have landed the distinct honour of designing a custom piece for Scarlett Johannson!

Isn't she stunning?? So much so, that I am completely overwhelmed as to what I could design for her.

Something for her home? Maybe a set of nesting bowls, or a pearl flower bowl?
Or something that she could wear?

Ahh! So many options, and based on my research...her accessories are always understated, so I'm not really sure what piece I would design for her if it was a ring, bracelet or hair piece.

See? I'm stuck!!

Comment with your suggestions!!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Pansies for Nicole

A little bit of glitz and glamour is headed to Hollywood from Sweet Stella's. I've had the distinct honour of designing for the boho queen herself, Nicole Ritchie.

I think she is absolutely going to rock the over sized pansy statement ring. I sculpted it in a bold shimmery gold tone, then used pearl and a lighter gold for the stamen. It's attached to an antique adjustable brass ring to ensure a perfect fit.

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Punky Brewster

If you're a child of the 80's, you know exactly who I'm talking about when I mention Punky Brewster. Soleil Moon Frye has turned into positively the most radiant woman, inside and out, and has such a beautiful philosophy when it comes to parenting.

Designing something for her was nothing short of amazing, and immediately I went to the bold pops of colour that she seems to gravitate toward in her accessories.

I think the bold pop of Pantone's 2013 Monaco Blue, paired with Spearmint, is perfect for her!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Without Further Adieu..

Julia Childs...

The Devil who wore Prada...{and will again!}

Ms. Thatcher...

A beauty queen...

Simply the most magnetic actress of our time. Stunning...

I could go on and on and on about Ms. Streep, but all I can say is that having the opportunity to design a custom brooch for her has been the opportunity of a lifetime.

An asbtract approach this time - twisting the white clay into a sinuous line of shape and form. Paired with light blue to pick up on Meryl's eye and a light gold for a spark of shimmer...

More abstract brooches will be in the shop this fall, all modeled off of this one of a kind stunner made just for Ms. Streep!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Ms. Blunt, if you please

From being the stylish maven in The Devil Wears Prada to the cheeky fiance in The 5 Year Engagement, Ms. Emily Blunt most definitely has it going on.

Her red carpet style is always on point; she's fearless, yet timeless and classic, with the perfect amount of femininity. I truly admire the intricate detail in her gowns....lace, embroidery, beading...everything is just perfectly beautiful.

Creating a bubble charm for her was an absolute delight. Painted first with a cool white tone, the bubble was then striped with two tones of pink - a nice touch of girly whimsy, and enough edge to suit Emily's fearless style.

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: Queen of Queens

We all loved her as Doug Heffernan's wife on the King of Queens...the sassy mama from the Bronx.

In real life, Leah Remini has a super chic and classy style - one that I completely adore and am excited to have designed for!

A sculpted pansy, that is then handpainted with acrylics and hung on a silver metal bangle bracelet with a silver eye pin.

So beautiful, and simple! I think it will match her style rather beautifully!
