Did Someone say Pie? #printable #thanksgiving

At every Thanksgiving dinner coming up this month, there will be pie. Peach, pecan, cherry, apple, pumpkin, sweet potato.

There will be pie, plenty of pie, at Thanksgiving dinner.

Pie; glorious pie.

Download this free printable HERE and use it as an insert for your placemats or signage for your dessert buffet.

Happy Thanksgiving (and happy pie eating!)

Friendsgiving Party Inspiration #thanksgiving #party

Have you heard of Friendsgiving? Basically, it's getting all of your pals together and having Thanksgiving, showing one another how much you care and then feasting until your heart is content and your belly is full.

I love this party theme and thought I would do a little guide of food, printables and part inspiration.

When I have hosted this party in the past, we did it as a midday luncheon so it was appropriate to have croissants with cranberry sauce, brie, baby spinach and oven roasted turkey from the deli. Very easy to put together, and something that we put out buffet style so that guests could build their own. (source)

Other yummy foods to have on hand are Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower, Toasts with Mozzarella and Pepper Jelly, and something yummy like Caramel Apple Butter Cheesecake Dip. Use fresh flavours from your farmers market, loads of apples and cranberries, and sip on Apple Cider!

Create the perfect backdrop by dressing up your fireplace with this beautiful handmade banner from Oaklea Cottage Designs

And don't forget your party printables, designed by Noogle (which can be customized to suit your color scheme, of course!)

Make it beautiful, cozy and warm. Light candles, put out pumpkins and enjoy the time with friends, who really are more like family.

Happy Friendsgiving!

Fall Hostess Gift Guide #giftguide #thanksgiving

If you're anything like me, when someone hosts a special meal, you make sure to bring the hostess a little something. I mean, they've usually poured a tonne of hours into stressing over the meal, place settings, ambiance and activities, so it's nice to give them a little something to say thank you.

Here's my top 5 hostess gifts for Thanksgiving and Fall celebrations

All of the items above can be found on Etsy, just by searching Hostess Gifts. I was really impressed with the wide selection, and we all know how much I love to support other handmade artisans.

Clockwise from Top Right...

Honey Soap from Treefort Naturals
Hey Sugar hand stamped spoon from For Such A Time Designs
Arrow cloth napkin set from Viva Sweet Love (my personal favorite from the collection above)
Stone Coasters from The Ends
Beach Lantern from Open Vintage Shutters

Keep your hostess in mind. While the selections above are beautiful, they certainly aren't appropriate for every hostess out there.

Do they like to drink scotch? Wine? Beer? Coffee? Get some nice glasses, or scotch stones for them!
Maybe they are super into health and fitness, and are a runner. Get them an iTunes gift card for new music!

Whatever their interests are, find something unique that you know they will love.

Thanksgiving Entertaining for Fall 2013

Entertaining and hosting celebration tops my list of favorite things to do. Since Canadian Thanksgiving is over, but American Thanksgiving is upon us, I thought that I would share my inspiration for Thanksgiving Entertaining this Fall 2013

Thanksgiving Entertaining 2013

Soups are a super easy dish to make {and make ahead!} when you're entertaining. Fall is perfect for conjuring up a delicious soup, such as butternut squash or roasted vegetable. Have our friends over for a harvest lunch, and serve it with rustic farmers bread, lightly toasted in the oven.

I'm finding that wreaths these days are all looking the same, so when I found the one above, from Pier 1, I fell in love with it. It's rustic, but has the look of a metal worked piece of art.

Pies are so popular for Thanksgiving desserts, but think outside of the pumpkin and apple box. This fudge pecan pie looks to.die.for!

Serve up a fun cocktail to your Thanksgiving guests! Think pomegranate, blood orange, and cider mixed with champagne!

Set the tone for your gathering with yummy vanilla pumpkin candles!

And last but not least, give your guests a little parting gift. Caramel apples tied with beautiful ribbon are perfect for Thanksgiving entertaining!

Thanksgiving Prep!

This weekend, as with the past few years, we're going to be hosting Thanksgiving dinner for our family While we are small, we have big appetites!

What's going to save me this year?

The crockpot.

Very simply, the best thing ever when you have a group of people to feed and not all of the time in the world {read: mom to a toddler, working fulltime from home, showing in galleries, with an online shop}.

I think these will go over beautifully for a side dish for dinner!

Potatoes, cheese, green onion and bacon.

Yes...bacon. Really, what more would they need?

Oh, I guess a turkey, but that will be in the oven for a few hours...these in the crock pot...my dessert done the day or so before...looks like I'll have time to spend in my studio being thankful for my beautiful surroundings and the ability to paint!
