DIY Where The Wild Things Are onesie #pregnancy #newborn #clothing

After going through all of Owen's baby clothes, one thing was certain: I barely kept any newborn or 0-3 month clothing! Now, this may be because he was gigantic and kind of skipped the newborn phase, but either way this little guy was in need of some clothes!

Having another summer baby is something I'm looking forward to. It means lots of onesies, light blankets, and bare feet. This time will be a little different, as I plan to wear this little guy a bunch {between golf school, blastball and Owen's other activities, as well as running a business and being busy...babywearing is where it's at!} but I still wanted to create some special newborn onesies for him.

Materials

NB Onesies
Decoart So Soft fabric paint (Bright Yellow, Green Apple, Dark Chocolate, White Pearl)
Americana Traditions brushes (

To start, I wanted to make a mustard yellow color for this project so I mixed Bright Yellow with about 8 drops of Green Apple, and 3 small drops of Dark Chocolate. Once fully mixed, I had the perfect mustard yellow to create my onesie.

I free handed this Where The Wild Things Are onesie, based off of Max's crown.

Once I had the outline, I filled it in with the remaining mustard paint, then added a bit of Bright Yellow on the right hand corner to highlight, along with a bit of White Pearl to accent it.

Let dry completely, then you have a new, custom onesie for your little one!

I loved doing this project so much that I created a second onesie for our little guy (see it on Instagram), and one for a friend who is expecting!

6month #Pregnancy Update

Another month in the books, and another month closer to welcoming this boy into the world!

Maternity Clothes: Pretty exclusively, but there are a few non-maternity things that I can still wear (only tops). I am pretty much living in sports bras these days though!

Stretch Marks: Those lovely white lines I earned while I was pregnant with Owen are so.stretched.out. Holy moly! My fave remedy right now is Jergens Ultra Healing lotion after a shower.

Weight: +5lbs from my February appointment, which puts me at +8lbs overall. My dr's are really  happy with that, and considering that baby is about the size of a cantaloupe...all of that weight is baby/fluid/placenta!

Sleep: Up a few times a night to change positions or to go pee. The pillow between my knees has helped with back pain and hip pain, so that's good! Now it's just the "oh crap, I gotta pee!" feeling...usually at 2am and 5am. Also, this is strangely when he starts to kick like a ninja.

Best Pregnancy Moment: The best news that we got was this morning when my doctor told us that the Plexus Cyst that was found (a marker for trisomy 18) at the February ultrasound has dissolved. My heart is SO happy and thankful!

Movement: I'm definitely getting to know his sleep/wake patterns. Every 4 hours, there's a stretch then he starts ninja practice. His most active times are 7:50am, 10:00pm, 2:00am and 5:00am.

Food Cravings: Totally random things like rootbeer floats, chocolate cake (which I just HAD to make...and then had one slice...and would be fine to throw the rest out), Cadbury creme eggs. Seriously random, but mostly sweet stuff, and once I've had it, I don't want it again!

Gender: It's a BOY!! (read here)

Names: Keeping this secret is getting increasingly difficult. There are so many times that we will be talking about him at home and I almost let his name slip...in front of Owen...which will lead to everyone and their brother finding out the name!

Symptoms: My feet are getting a wee bit puffy from time to time, particularly if I've been on my feet working on projects, or sitting and working on editorials all day. Elevating, water and massage have helped tremendously.

Exercise: SO looking forward to warmer temps nearing the end of this week so I can get back to running. Still doing kettlebells now and then, but really only once or twice a week.

What I Miss: Patience. I'm not sure where mine has gone...

What I'm looking Forward To: Working with our amazing Doula Jena on our birth plan!

23 Week and Ultrasound Comparison #pregnancy

So we just got home from our morphological reassessment for Little Bear's heart outflow, and aside from being a little wiggle worm who crosses his legs when he's still {which isn't often!}, I was blown away at just how different he looks from his Big Brother!

Owen (l), Little Bear (r)
 This little love has a much rounder head, and much more pronounced button nose. I have a funny feeling he's going to look more like Mama than his big brother does!! {fingers are still crossed for curly hair}

In terms of my bump...

Owen (l), Little Bear (r)
Certainly much bigger on my third pregnancy, albeit a much fitter bump.

We will get the results of the ultrasound next week at my OB appointment, but I thought the side by sides were interesting and that I'd share!

Happy Monday!

Wild Thing going home outfit #baby #pregnancy

Well friends, we have about 16/17 weeks to go until this little guy is here. I'm starting to panic a little bit, feel a little overwhelmed here and there, but generally speaking, I feel really good about the choices that we've made this far and some that are to come.

A couple of weeks ago, his going home outfit arrived.

Summer babies don't need a whole lot when they come home from the hospital, so I wanted to find a super cute onesie for this little guy and definitely found great options at Dan's Press. This one will certainly become a keeper once he outgrows it, and when I unwrapped it I had completely forgotten just how small newborn clothes are! Oh, the cuteness!

The metallic gold moccasins are from Hello Little Scout, and while they likely won't fit him right when he is born, they will be up on his dresser, adding a great shimmer and shine to his nursery.

I remember when we brought Owen home....no shoes, no blanket, just a onesie but one that was at least one full size too big, but a favorite nonetheless. It was incredibly hot the day that he came home. It has rained most of the day when I was in labor, so the humidity was high and given that this baby is due two weeks after his brother's birthday...heat and humidity are pretty much guaranteed.

16 or 17 weeks. Holy moly!

We're halfway there! #pregnancy

Welcome to halfway friends!! We're so happy to be here!

Maternity Clothes: For the most part. There are still a few non maternity items that I'm wearing, like sweaters and tunics that I bought at the beginning of my pregnancy, but for the most part....give me a full panel pair of pants and I'm your best friend.

Stretch Marks: Over the past week the old silver ones have gotten a pink undertone. My belly as certainly shot right out front this past week...

Weight: +4lbs from the last appointment! This is good, and weird all at the same time. In total, I have gained 3lbs, so this belly...it's ALL baby!

Left: 19 weeks, Right: 20 weeks (top: Liz Lange Maternity, bottoms: Thyme Maternity)

Sleep: Like a rock...apparently Owen wet the bed at 1:30am last night...I knew nothing of it until the morning!

Best Pregnancy Moment: Right now there are a few....SEEING movement from the outside, and finding out the Gender (read here)

Movement: First thing in the morning, then again late at night at bedtime...and sometimes at 4am or 5am. He's pretty darn predictable.

Food Cravings: Still just the random if-i-see-it-i-want-it type cravings. Juicing has been helping a tonne to keep the nasty cravings away, but every now and then it will be a sprinkle donut from Tim's

Gender: It's a BOY!! (read here)

Names: Oh does he ever have a name, and it's beautiful! You still have 20 weeks until you get to find out, though!

Symptoms: Well, my belly has been stretching alot so it's pretty sore, but aside from that and a little fatigue, I'm feeling pretty good.

Exercise: I haven't run since Jan 15th, and now that I'm back up North...bahahahaha! There will be no running until Spring. That said, I did just invest in a Kettlebell and will be starting a kettlebell full body routine this week!

What I Miss: Remembering why I went into a room the first time

What I'm looking Forward To: Well, we have to have another ultrasound as this little dude is wiggly like his big Brother, and we didn't get a good shot of his heart on the last anatomy scan. So, definitely looking forward to seeing him again.

Mister or Miss...who will it be? #GenderReveal #pregnancy

Sometimes a picture can tell a thousand words. In our case this week, it speaks of a thousand emotions.

That's right friends...another boy for us! My intuition was completely wrong on this, but we couldn't be happier!

Owen's warming up to the idea of having a little brother, though if you ask him if the baby is a brother or sister he will still answer with Little Sister. When we remind him that it's a baby brother, he remembers and gets all excited about playing superheros and trains with the baby.

The best moment was this morning when I was telling him that we were going to go and get some balloons for his little brother. He snuggled up to me on the couch, rubbed my belly and said "hi buddy!" I have a feeling that these two boys of mine are going to get along just fine.

A huge heartfelt thank you to Stephanie Glover at A Grande Life for taking this photo and making it something magical. You're amazing!
