It is that dreaded stage that no parent
ever looks forward to. TEETHING!! The sleepless nights are back and
so is that screaming baby. But, rest assured, here are some tips &
tricks to help you through.
Other than the obvious teething rings
or Orajel/Motrin/Tylenol combos, here are some other teething
remedies:
Teething Necklaces
– A lot of moms are quite skeptical with this option, but they do
work. Necklaces that are made from amber resin contain succinic acid
which is a natural painkiller that is released when warm skin touches
the beads. Keep in mind that the lighter coloured amber beads have
more succinic acid in them. If you are worried about having a
necklace on your baby while they sleep you can also buy amber
bracelets or anklets.
Chiropractic Adjustments -
When you get an adjustment your cortisol levels decrease and your
white blood cell count increases. This reduces stress and promotes
healing for their sensitive gums.
Munchkin Fresh Food Feeders
– These are amazing, they can get messy, but they are still
amazing. You can put frozen food in them, or even ice cubes, and
your little one can suck on them and you don’t have to worry about
them choking. The best part is that they can go literally anywhere!
Celery & Carrots
– I know that this one sounds a little odd, but celery is said to
have an analgesic effect, meaning that it eases pain, and both
veggies can be frozen which will increase their soothing abilities.
Maybe even put some celery or carrots in your Munchkin Fresh Food
Feeder!
Frozen/Cold Washcloths
– This is the only thing that my mom could do to ease teething for
my brother. He would even return the washcloth if it wasn’t cold
enough. Frozen or cold fruit in at mesh feeder is also a great option!
Momsicles (aka Breastmilk
Popsicles) – These are super easy to make and babies
LOVE them. You can get popsicle molds from the dollar store or you
could even freeze your breastmilk in an ice cube tray and put them in
a Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder (I told you they were amazing).
A Relaxing Bath –
Since your baby is drooling like mad and eating messy frozen food, a
daily bath is most likely a necessity at this stage.
Go for a walk –
Changing up the scenery can take your baby’s mind off of their
aching mouth. The movement from the walk might just help baby fall
asleep too.
Teething can be a tough time for you
and for your baby, but with a little love and some patience you will
make it through! Just remember that it doesn’t last forever.
Pretty soon those pesky teeth will break free and you both will feel
much better.
xoxo
