Two ingredients are all that you need. Honey and Olive Oil. Yep. Really...that's it!
Mix the ingredients in a 3:1 ratio (Oil to honey). For my shoulder length curly hair, I used the following mixture:
6 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp honey
If you have shorter hair, I would recommend 3 tbsp olive oil to 1 tbsp honey.
Mix the ingredients together in a bowl, and microwave for 30 seconds. Mix again. You want to get the ingredients as mixed together as possible, and as warm/hot as you can stand it. The heat will really help for the mixture to sink into and moisturize your scalp.
Now comes the messy part. I started by dipping the ends of my hair into the bowl, then massaging up. Do this over a sink or towel because the oil will start to drip everywhere. Pour some of the mixture onto your scalp and massage it in.
Then roll up your hair, and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Yep. THIRTY.
You will look like this...pretty glamerous
Tip: Wash your hair with a shampoo that does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate and ammonium lauryl sulfate as those ingredients strip the moisture from your hair. Great brands to look for are L'Oreal, Aveeno, Pureology, Wen and Kiss My Face.
Tip: Let your hair air dry after the hot oil treatment if you can. I did this just before bed, so I dried mine with a diffuser on the cold setting, then let it dry the rest of the way overnight. It turned out lovely!

I cant wait to try this. My scalp is so dry!
Let me know what you think!! There's another one that I want to try - I'll be testing it out next week!
Honey and olive oil? Really? I never would have thought of that. I always have olive oil here. Now I guess I need to go get some honey. You have an DIY ideas for tweens with desperately oily hormonal hair? If you do please post so I can use them on my daughter. Wink.
I'm giving this a try tonight and my hair definitely needs the moisture so I'm excited!
