Mompreneur Monday: DBK Designs

A double dose of artisans today for you to meet! Today's feature Mompreneur is Debrah Block-Krol from DBK Designs!

What does she do? Well she can sure tell you much better than I, but from my view, she creates some of the loveliest scarves and some really funky and unique jewellery.

Without further adieu, here's Debrah to talk about being a busy Mompreneur!

What do you do?

I design and handcraft jewelry accessories and scarves. My work is represented in more than 20 galleries nationally

How do you maximize your time as a busy mom running a business?

I sometimes feel like my work and myself are pushed into the corners of my life, but I do the bulk of work at night and during the day while my son is in school.

What do you see as your greatest challenge being a MOMpreneur?

Carving out a place to do my work, and finding the time to do the work without interruption.

What advice do you have for other moms looking to start a business?

Don’t feel bad about taking time for yourself and your work. Believe in the validity and importance of what you do.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?

Marvelous Monday: Bellaroma...revisited

Happy Monday everyone!

One shop that I have been shopping at this holiday season is Bellaroma. Remember my little review a while ago?

Well, it hasn't stopped at just caring for my skin! I recently contacted Diana about my son's eczema. It's not bad, but it's not to be itchy for him and no amount of Aveeno or extra-sensitive-crazy cream has helped.

The only thing that has helped is Diana's own concoction of amazingness that she whipped up, and I've now purchased as a custom order.

But, it hasn't even stopped there! Some lucky lovely ladies in my life will be getting these this holiday season!

Fabulous Find Friday: Doily Lamp

We're in the process of scouting houses, old and new, and planning for a big move right now. This had kept me very busy on Pinterest looking at home decor ideas and, really, planning the house of my dreams.

I was looking through my boards and saw this fabulous goodie...which I think will be necessary in my new studio, or in our great room/den as a dreamy light fixture (maybe in a cluster of 5?) over Owen's reading area.

Holiday Baking

Have a teacher, garbage man, mail delivery person, post office worker, member of your church family or some other person on your list this Holiday season? I know that I do, and that list keeps growing by the day when I think of all of the wonderful people in our lives!

So! This year...into the kitchen I go with my beautiful standmixer that is likely exhausted at this point. However, this batch of particularly yummy cookies yeild about 75 cookies...

Translate that into 10 cookies per cello bag, tied with a lovely tag (that you can make at home to save even more money! I had this one lying around our Christmas wrapping paper stock) and you've got gifts for 7 people, plus 5 cookies left for you to snack on!

And what's even better, you likely have all of these ingredients (minus the molasses...let's be serious, who has molasses in the house!? But...it's only $4 at Walmart!) in your kitchen already!

Ginger Molasses Cookies

Preheat over to 350F

Mix in your standmixer bowl

• 4 1/2
  cups all-purpose flour
• 4
  teaspoons ground ginger
• 2
  teaspoons baking soda
• 1 1/2
  teaspoons ground cinnamon
• 1/4
  teaspoon salt

Cream in

• 1 1/2
  cups butter
• 2
  cups granulated sugar
• 2
  eggs
• 1/2
  cup molasses

Roll cookies into 1" balls, and roll them in a bowl of

• 3/4
  cup coarse sugar or granulated sugar

Place on a cookie sheet, and bake for 13-14 minutes. You'll know that they're finished by when the tops crack! Be careful not to overbake though!

I then took a bunch of the cookies, put them in a cello bag (you can get these at Michael's for about $2.50 for 12 bags. I get mine from Nashville Wraps in bulk, so I had them on hand already) and tie with a lovely tag!

Total cost on these babies...$6.50. Cost per gift...$0.92!

Beautiful, thoughtful, cost-efficient, and yummy!
