New Year, New Me

A new series starting this year that will show the voice behind the blog. I've been contemplating for a while now shedding some light on the things that I am doing to set a positive and healthy example for my son. Now feels like the perfect time to do that, and I'm excited for you to join me on this journey. I hope that you find the posts motivational, and if you do I would love to hear about your journey's as well! Who knows; it might end turn into a linkup party!

A little background, just prior to getting pregnant in 2009, I weighed 205lbs.

September 2009, 205lbs (at 5'2")

After a few months of annovulatory cycles, we were blessed to be pregnant and our whole lives changed. In 2005, my Dad passed away from a massive heart attack. He had had bypass surgery in 1995, and never quit smoking {not an issue for me} and loved to eat. Knowing that I was half his age in 2009 when I got pregnant was enough of a kick in the behind to get healthy and try to stay healthy.

At the end of my pregnancy, I weighed in at 191lbs - yes, I lost weight. Thank you, all-day-sickness, that lasted a good 5 months. Yuck! Not a healthy way to lose weight to say the least, so I started working with a personal trainer in September 2010, and at the end of my sessions, I weighed 152lbs.

Right now, I am sitting at 165lbs and am....fleshy. So, what does this healthy journey look like for me? Well, on Boxing Day I started the Insanity workout - quite possibly the most difficult thing I've ever undertaken, but also the most rewarding. My husband started doing it, and I thought...oh what the heck?! For me, it's all about the challenge and to see if I can actually get through it.

Week 1 of Insanity
Every week, I'll post a recap of Insanity, and chat with you about how I'm putting out positive energy and a great example for my son to follow. Nutrition wise, I'm so thankful to have teamed up with a BeachBody Coach, Dara Distel, and will be bringing facts, information, and the best, and most well rounded, nutritional supplement on the market, Shakeology!

NYNM is about a healthy mom, and you all know how busy I am, so we'll be keeping it real and talking about the challenges that stand in our way as women in obtaining our healthiest selves!

Have a question or comment? Let me know in the comments below or email me at shannon@sweetstelas.com

*Disclaimer: NYNM is being sponsored by BeachBody Coach Dara Distel. I am provided the Shakeology product for the purposes of getting healthy, and blogging about the brand and product.
